1) Bike Lanes Action Alert – Now!

Protected bike lanes are important, because, without them, what in the world would protect the habitat of the northern automobile pilot from the threat of predatory cyclists? Nothing, that’s what. So, declare yourself a proud supporter of protected bike lanes on Richmond and Adelaide by e-mailing members of the Public Works Committee by November 3rd! Don’t do it for yourself; do it for the northern automobile pilot.

2) November Seminars – Nov 15th

Basic bicycle maintenance is an essential part of not sucking terribly. The basic bicycle maintenance seminar is the perfect place to have silly questions answered (the sillier, the better), and to learn how to change a tire as well as check brake pads, bearing systems, and tires for wear.

3) Winter Bike Storage – At your convenience

If you want somewhere to store your summer bike, or if you’re one of the people sensible enough to avoid winter riding, you can not only store your bike for free, but have it emerge in the spring with a tune-up. Alternatively, this is known as free winter storage with the purchase of a tune-up. We don’t do this, so please consult your local bike shop (I was told to say “consult your local bike shop” because it sounds super official, and I have to admit, the phrase really delivers).

4) Sauce End-of-Season Bash! - Nov 5, 8:30pm

Bike Sauce is having an end-of-season bash, as indicated by the heading immediately preceding this sentence. See what happened there? I confirmed the heading of this passage so that you might never doubt the sincerity of our headings. So take that, and remember to bring your bikes. Also, your other loved ones. And also, your pre-hibernation cheer.

5) Saturday Ride – Nov 5th, 1:00pm

We’re not sure where we’re going yet, but we are going. At 1pm, we leave 33 St. George (after meeting out front) on a two hour tour. We will not get stranded on a desert island. You’ll want to dress warm; or you’ll want to freeze.

6) Trash Nothing

Join the new St. George freecycling group at trashnothing.com and give away your old stuff and find free things. You did indeed read correctly: FREE. Stuff like: books, clothes, furniture, games, electronics, appliances, tools, building materials, & so on. How does it work, you ask? Log on, post things you have to give away and request things you want to take away. Any time of the day.
Also, they’re giving away prizes, because, apparently, free stuff isn’t enough of a draw. What kind of prizes?
- a new iPod Touch
- a new $200 Dell mini-laptop
- lunch for four at Hot Yam!
- gift certificates
- & more!
